STANLEY BARBER has directed over 500 major theater productions in a career spanning more than 50 years. He is the award winning librettist of Alexandros, based on the life of Alexander the Great. Stan has written the book and lyrics for a dozen musicals, and stage adaprations of Phantom of the Opera, St. Exupery's The Little Prince, Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein and Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. His work off-Broadway includes directing his librettos for two musicals, and his direction of Hamlet and Oedipus the King. A former high school and college English teacher, Stan is the founder and director of Castle Shakespeare Repertory, a professional actors company, and Pax Amicus Castle Theatre, both located in northwest New Jersey, where he resides.
MATTHEW GANDOLFO has toured internationally as musical director and vocalist for Mikel Rouse’s The End of Cinematics (First World Tour), Dennis Cleveland, and The Demo. Matthew’s score for Stanley Barber's Oedipus The King, a suite composed for prepared piano and voice, premiered at the Players Theater in New York City, and his string arrangements for Rouse's Gravity Radio premiered at BAM's Next Wave Festival. A New York City based piano and voice teacher, Matthew's other professional work includes Between Pretty Places (HERE Arts Center, NYC), The Audition (Neighborhood Playhouse, NYC), The Gameboy (Vital Theater, NYC), Door Opens, Walk Through (13th Street Repertory) and Dressingroom (Soho Playhouse, NYC).
